Scary stats about mosquitoes

Quick, who or what is the world’s deadliest killer? Hint: It isn’t the Great White Shark. Try something a little smaller.
Ok alright, you got us. It’s mosquitoes. Approximately 725,000 people are killed each year by mosquito-borne diseases including dengue. That’s 725,000 lives too many. Not only that, they leave millions more in pain and agony.

The Aedes mosquito, that black and white nuisance that’s causing so much suffering doesn’t discriminate against age, race or gender. To the mosquito, you are merely a two-legged food source for her eggs. The female mosquito needs the protein and iron found in your blood to nourish her eggs. Otherwise, she’s happy to eat the sugar found in nectar and plant juices. It is her primary source of energy. The males eat the same thing. And because they don’t reproduce, they have no idea how human blood tastes like.
